I recognise the importance of client confidentiality and data privacy, and am bound by professional code of ethics. This privacy policy explains how I collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with:

  • Data Protection Act 2018 (Ireland)

This policy applies to indviduals who visit my website (www.sineadmolony.ie) and individuals who contact or engage with my services.

Data Controller

The data controller is Sinéad Molony, a counsellor and psychotherapist and a pre-accredited member of IAHIP.

I hold in-person sessions in the Drogheda Holistic Centre, 45 Fair Street, Drogheda, Co. Louth, A92 YH22.

I also hold online therapy sessions via doxy.me platform.

Categories Of Data Collected

Data which may be collected include: 

  • Identity and Contact Data: E.g. Name, email address, phone number. 

  • Enquiry and Appointment Data: E.g. Information provided in enquiry forms, which may include general descriptions of issues or reasons why therapy services are being sought.

  • Communications: E.g. emails or text messages relating to enquiries about appointments. 

  • Emergency contact name and telephone number

  • GP name and contact information

  • Relevant medical information

  • Session notes and any creative works that may be developed during sessions or shared with me by you

  • Payment information

  • Invoices and receipts

How Your Data Is Used

  • Email and phone number are only used to communicate with you about therapy session arrangements/ appointments.

  • The provision of therapeutic services. Session notes support my work as a therapist. Coded records are stored in a locked filing cabinet. The key holder is Sinéad Molony, and the key is kept with this person at all times. 

  • Anonymised information may be shared with my clinical supervisor to ensure the effective and ethical provision of therapeutic services. 

  • Under no circumstances will I share any records with another therapist, GP or allied professional unless given clear permission from a client. 

  • There are some situations where confidentiality may have to be broken, e.g., when a person is at risk to themselves or others; when an arrestable offence has been committed; or when a child or young person may be at risk of harm. If such a situation arises, information will be relayed with consent to those on a need-to-know basis only.

Website Analytics, Cookies & Technical Data

  • Technical data: When using this website, the following technical data is collected: IP address, browser type, pages visited, date and time. The hosting provider Squarespace collects this data on my behalf to analyse site traffic, performance, and visitor behaviour. 

  • Necessary cookies: This website uses cookies to run effectively, support functioning, and remember user preferences. The hosting provider Squarespace stores and processes this data. You can manage cookie preferences via the site’s cookie banner and can block cookies via your browser settings.

Your Rights Under GDPR

Under GDPR, you have the right to: 

  • Access your personal data

  • Request correction or deletion

  • Object to or restrict processing

  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

  • Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission
